Gary Herzberg ’10

Gary Herzberg ’10 says he appreciated the CS staff’s consistently “sharp, practical insights, while being enormously kind.” In particular, he says, “Nancy Burkett helped me one-on-one during my internship search. Last winter, she told me about the Lang Center’s Summer of Social Action Awards (S2A2) program—which enables students to engage in meaningful work for social justice with nonprofit organizations, grass-roots advocacy groups, and public service agencies. I received a summer internship grant to work with a nonprofit organization. It enabled me to work directly with Fedcap Rehabilitation Services’ administrative directors, who shared my concerns about vocational rehabilitation. They were both mentors and kin,” he says.

Herzberg, who received three offers of employment, chose to work as an analyst for the Nielsen Company, a marketing and media information provider in New Jersey. “My job is great,” he says.
